      Short version: Your financial data never leaves your device. We collect
      no personal information. Anonymous crash reports and analytics help us improve the app.
      AI queries send only anonymized summaries.
    

1. Introduction

JustChecking is developed by Griffify Studios LLC. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide: Display name (optional), financial data (bills, income sources, transactions, goals) — ALL stored locally on your device only.
Automatically collected: Anonymous crash reports, feature usage analytics, device type and OS version.
AI queries (Premium): Anonymized financial summaries sent to the AI service — no PII, no account numbers, no real names.
Advertising (Free tier, mobile only): Google AdMob collects standard ad identifiers per Google's policies.
What we do NOT collect: Email, phone number, bank credentials, account numbers, SSN, IP addresses (except momentarily for AI queries), or location data.

3. How We Use Information

To provide and improve the app experience.
To process AI financial queries for Premium subscribers.
To display relevant advertisements on the Free mobile tier.
For crash reporting and anonymous analytics.
We do NOT use your financial data for advertising targeting.

4. Data Storage & Security

All financial data is stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. PIN and biometric authentication protect app access. No financial data is transmitted to our servers (except anonymized AI queries). AI service communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. No cloud storage — your data exists only on your device.

5. AI Service Data Handling

AI queries contain anonymized financial summaries only. No personally identifiable information is included in AI requests. AI conversation data is not stored on our servers beyond the active session. Device ID is used for rate limiting only and is not linked to your personal identity. Our AI provider (OpenAI) processes data per their data usage policies.

6. Advertising & Tracking

The Free mobile tier displays Google AdMob advertisements. Desktop versions do not display advertisements. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers. You may opt out of personalized ads via your device settings or by upgrading to Ad-Free. GDPR/CCPA consent is shown before personalized ad tracking begins.

The JustChecking website (justchecking.griffify.com) uses a single theme cookie to remember your light/dark mode preference. This is a functionality cookie that does not track you, contains no personal data, and is exempt from consent requirements under ePrivacy Directive Article 5(3). The cookie is shared across *.griffify.com subdomains so your preference is consistent across our sites.

7. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Subscription purchases are processed by platform stores (Microsoft Store, Google Play, Apple App Store). We receive purchase receipts for validation — no payment card details are stored by us. Subscription status is verified server-side; no financial payment data is stored by Griffify Studios LLC.

8. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell personal or financial data.
We do NOT share data with third parties for marketing.
Limited sharing: AI service provider (anonymized queries only), ad network (mobile Free tier only), crash reporting service.
Law enforcement disclosure only when legally required with valid legal process.

9. Data Export & Portability

You may export all your data as a ZIP file (JSON data + document artifacts) from Settings. Export and Import are available to all users. Exports include financial data, settings, and documents — never subscription status or credentials.

10. Data Deletion

Delete all your data from Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete My Data. Deletion is immediate and permanent — all local data is wiped. Snapshots and all associated data are deleted. There is no server-side data to delete (local-only architecture). Re-installation starts fresh — we have no backups of your data.

11. Children's Privacy

JustChecking is not intended for children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover a child is using the app, we will take steps to delete their data.

12. Your Rights (GDPR/CCPA)

Access: View all your data within the app at any time.
Portability: Export all data via Settings.
Deletion: Delete all data via Settings.
Correction: Edit any data directly in the app.
Opt-out of ads: Disable personalized ads via device settings or upgrade to Ad-Free.

No account is required, which minimizes data rights complexity.

13. Data Collection Notice

What we collect:

Crash reports: anonymous, no financial data included.
Usage analytics: anonymous feature events (e.g., "Register tab opened"). No amounts or personal details.
Device ID: randomly generated on first launch for AI rate limiting only. Not linked to your identity.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Users will be notified of material changes via an in-app consent re-prompt (version-tracked). Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance.
